The weather at the time of the crash was overcast. The road surface was wet. Walnut Street and Lake Street are both public ways maintained by the City of Newton. I spoke with the operator of MV1, Joseph Ratta (S82871504). Ratta was operating a City of Newton owned 2017 Ford F350 (MA MVN: M99236) Southbound in the area of 1141 Walnut Street. Ratta stated while in Traffic, MV2 crashed into the rear of his vehicle. I observed minor damage to the rear bumper area of MV1. No injures were reported. Ratta is employed by the Utilities Division. I spoke with the operator of MV2, Bryan Izaguirre (S64158637). Izaguirre stated he was operating a 2016 Honda Civic (MA: 8ZP172) Southbound in the area of 1141 Walnut Street, Newton. Izaguirre stated the front bumper of his vehicle crashed into the rear of MV2 at a low speed while they were in traffic. No injuries were reported. Pictures were taken and submitted to the IT Bureau.
