On 05/14/19 at approximately 14:00 the Police Station received a call from Lopes who just got off the phone with Assarian who found some security footage of the incident. I then traveled over to National Lumber and met with Assarian. He showed me the video and it appears that a newer grey four door Chevrolet truck backed into Lopes truck around 06:58 of 05/07/19. The Massachusetts plate is unreadable but an older White heavy set male gets out of the truck and walks into the store. After parking the truck the male can be seen checking his own truck bumper for damage. The male is wearing a baseball hat and sun glasses and cannot be identified on the video. The male does however walk with a noticeable limp. Assarian will show his picture to his employees and contact me if the employees are able to identify the male driver. I called Lopes back and apprised him of my findings. ******************UPDATE**************************************** As of today 05/20/19 I have yet to hear back from anyone at National Lumber so I will end this investigation and label it a hit and run crash.,"[""Crash"", ""Phone"", ""Pictures"", ""Solar"", ""Walk""]",[],[],/static/reports/1900000490.pdf,/static/images/1900000490.png,"15 Needham St, Newton, MA 02461, USA",42.3168424,-71.2097042,0,2020-10-06T16:46:22.718745 1900000493,2019-05-15T12:27,2019-05-15,12:27,35 PULSIFER ST,SOUTH 35 PULSIFER ST,,0,30,1,0,ON 5-15-19 AT APPROX. 1227HRS. I then spoke with the operator of V2, Ms. Nunnally stated that a vehicle had abruptly pulled out of the driveway of 717 Centre St. She stated she applied her brakes immediately to avoid contact and pulled to the right. She stated when she stopped she felt rear impact from V2. Both parties had no injuries at this time. V2 was towed by Todys towing to 1354 Washington Street Newton. Walnut St is a public way in the city of Newton. Approximately two tenths of a mile south 100 Walnut St, Ofc Garcia stopped the male on the scooter. Ofc Garcia stated that the male on the scooter was evasive when answering his questions and claimed that he did not realize that his face was covered in blood. The male on the scooter was identified as Gregory David Brown. Brown was transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital for treatment. Prior to Brown being transported I was dispatched to the area of 100 Walnut St for a report of a male on an scooter who had crashed into a south bound vehicle in traffic on Walnut St and another vehicle that was parked in front of number 73. Upon my arrival I spoke with Penni Rochwerger and Nikita Espinal. Rochwerger stated that she was driving south bound on Walnut St across from 100 when she activated her vehicle's four way flasher and stopped her vehicle to let Espinal who was the front seat passenger out. Rochwerger stated that south bound traffic stopped behind her vehicle after she came to a stop adjacent to Espinal vehicle that was parked facing south in front of 73 Walnut St. Espinal stated that she checked over her right should to see if it was clear to open her door and it was . Espinal stated that as she opened her door to exit a male on scooter crashed into the door and fell to the ground. Both Rochwerger and Espinal stated that the male on the scooter did not provide his name or address and continued south bound on Walnut St with his face coved in blood. Rochwerger's vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side door that would not closed all the way. Espinal vehicle also had damage to it, the rear driver's side lower quarter panel was struck. I responded to Newton Wellesley Hospital to speak with Brown. When I arrived and spoke with Brown he was evasive with his answers . When I asked Brown what had happened he gave conflicting answers and contradicted himself. Brown stated that he was riding his scooter on the roadway south bound on Walnut St be could not recall any other details. When I asked Brown if he was wearing a helmet as required by MGL 90/1E he stated he couldn't recall. Rochwerger, Espinal and Ofc Garcia all stated to me that they did not see Brown wearing a hamlet. There was an unconfirmed post by a person named Tricia Marucci to the Facebook group Newton Parents stating that at 14:45 hours on 12/19/2019 saw Brown hitting a defect in the roadway in the area of Crafts St by California St that caused him to loses control of his scooter and fall face first onto the pavement. In her post Marucci stated that Brown was cover in blood from facial lacerations, and that he refused medical aid and continued to ride his scooter south bound towards the entrance to Walnut St. I left a message for Marucci to contact me and as of the writing of this report she has yet to do so. While at the hospital I ran Brown's name and date of birth via the MA RMV data base in order to issue him a citation for not wearing a helmet. The query of Brown via the MA RMV data base reviled that Brown's MA driver's license statutes was suspended. On 07/11/2018 admitted to a finding of sufficient facts to one count of MGL 90/24 OUI liquor. Brown received a Continued With Out Finding for 18 months. In addition Brown pleaded guilty to an additional count of MGL 90/24V Child Endangerment While OUI. Brown received a 90 day sentence in the Middlesex House of Correction which was suspended for 18 months. Brown also received a one year loss of his driver's license. Brown is on active probation out of Newton District Court until 07/21/2020. Everyone involved then pulled to the side of the road to wait for police assistance. Upon my arrival, I noted that the road was wet, due to a heavy downpour which had just occurred. I also noted that there was a decent amount of traffic using the road, which is typical for this area at that time of day and would likely be exacerbated by the poor weather conditions. All parties involved reported that they were not injured and I assisted them in gathering each others pertinent information, so they could begin the process with their respective insurance companies. I noted the following damage: MV 1 sustained minor damage to its front bumper on the passenger's side, by and including its tow hook. MV 2 sustained minor damage to its lift gate on the driver's side and below its rear reflector on the same side. Additionally, MV2 sustained minor damage to its front bumper on the lower driver's side and the bumper cover access panel on the same side. The weather at the time of the crash was clear and sunny. The road surface was dry. Beacon Street is a public way maintained by the City of Newton. I spoke with the operator of the vehicle involved in the crash, Dina Hudson (S33833807). Ms. Hudson stated she was sitting in her 2015 white Jeep Grand Cherokee (MA: 727SZ7) that was parked (E) in a metered parking spot in front of 780 Beacon Street. Ms. Hudson stated traffic in the Eastbound lane of Beacon Street to her left was stopped. There was a red light ahead at the intersection and traffic had built up past where her vehicle was parked. Ms. Hudson stated she opened her driver side door while she was looking for her debit card to go to the bank. Ms. Hudson stated at this time a bicyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed around the stopped traffic towards the intersection and crashed into her driver side door. Ms. Hudson stated the operator of the bicycle then traveled further up the roadway and crashed behind a vehicle stopped in traffic. Ms. Hudson stated she was unsure if the bicyclist crashed into the stopped vehicle or if it had landed on the roadway just before it. Ms. Hudson stated the bicyclist then got up from the roadway and began yelling at her that the crash was her fault. I observed a few small fresh scrapes on the outside of the driver side door area. When I initially arrived at the crash location, I observed Officer Lazarakis checking on his well-being of the injured bicyclist, Marc Lind. Lind was observed laying on the sidewalk in front of 780 Beacon Street. After being evaluated by Newton Medics, I spoke with Mr. Lind. Mr. Lind stated he was traveling on his Trek bicycle Eastbound on Beacon Street towards Langley Road. Mr. Lind stated while traveling through the area at this time, traffic in the Eastbound Lane was stopped and there was a red light ahead of him at the intersection. Mr. Lind estimated his speed at this time to be 10-12 miles per hour. Mr. Lind stated as he travelled past the Santander Bank at 780 Beacon Street, the operator of a parked white Jeep to his right abruptly opened their door into traffic. Mr. Lind stated he attempted to avoid the vehicles door and veered to the left. Mr. Lind stated the right end of his handlebar made contact with the door and as he traveled forward and applied his brakes his right side crashed into the rear of a vehicle stopped in traffic ahead of him. Mr. Lind stated he crashed to the roadway on his right side. Mr. Lind was able to move to the side of the roadway and wait for Newton PD, Fire, and Medics to respond. Mr. Lind reported injuries to his right arm, side, and leg area. Mr. Lind signed a patient refusal with Newton Medics and was transported away from the area by his wife with his bicycle. I observed no substantial damage to his Trek bicycle. At the time of the crash, Mr. Lind was wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts, black, shoes, and a gray helmet with sunglasses. I spoke with a witness to the crash, Steve Worthington. Mr. Worthington stated he was stopped in traffic on Beacon Street about 4 vehicles back from the red light. Mr. Worthington stated he looked out of his passenger door mirror and observed a bicyclist ""whipping"" down Beacon Street in between vehicles parked on the side of the road and vehicles stopped in traffic at the red light. Mr. Worthington estimated the speed of the bicycle to be approximately 20 miles per hour. Mr. Worthington stated the bicyclist had to ""lean"" by his vehicle to get by. Mr. Worthington stated a vehicle just ahead of him that was parked opened their door and the bicyclist made contact with the door. After speaking with all the parties involved it appears that the crash was caused by Pedestrian 1 entering the roadway in a manner which gave Vehicle 1 little or no time to react.","[""Crash"", ""Ems"", ""Fire"", ""Ped"", ""Pictures"", ""Speed"", ""Walk""]",[],[],/static/reports/2000000698.pdf,/static/images/2000000698.png,"483 Centre St, Newton, MA 02458, USA",42.3540168,-71.1866673,0,2020-12-27T11:33:09 2000000714,2020-12-08T08:42,2020-12-08,08:42,26 CUMMINGS RD,NORTH 26 CUMMINGS RD,,0,25,0,0,"On 12/08/20 at 08:42 hours, I responded to 26 Cummings Road for a city motor vehicle accident involving a parked unoccupied motor vehicle. Cummings Road is a public way maintained by the City of Newton. The weather at the time was approximately 30 degrees and very cloudy. On arrival, I spoke to the operator of M/V # 1 Alphonse Secinaro MA DL# S88518110 who works for the City of Newton Dept. of Public Works Yard out of 74 Elliot Street. Mr. Secinaro stated at the time he was sanding or cleaning up icy spots on the roadways. He was operating a 2012 International 7 Series color orange (MA Official Reg# M87605) with a plow attached to it. While driving northbound on Cummings Road between number 26 and 34, Secinaro attempted to maneuver his large plow truck between two parked motor vehicles on opposite sides of the roadway. While trying to do so, he struck parked M/V # 2 (14' Honda Pilot MA # 7RT637) on the driver's side rear parking light area. This caused the brake light cover to break and a small dent to the vehicle to the left of that brake cover. I observed M/V # 1 to be parked on the right side of 26 Cummings Road partially on the grass where there is no sidewalk. The other vehicle was parked a little more southbound on the opposite side of the roadway which made it very difficult for the large plow truck to navigate through. I observed no parking restrictions for both sides of the street. Digital photos were taken of the scene and submitted to the IT Bureau.","[""Crash"", ""Ice"", ""Pictures""]",[],[],/static/reports/2000000714.pdf,/static/images/2000000714.png,"26 Cummings Rd, Newton, MA 02459, USA",42.3362546,-71.2110146,0,2020-12-27T11:33:06 2000000743,2020-12-16T23:47,2020-12-16,23:47,80 CHARLESBANK RD,EAST 80 CHARLESBANK RD,,0,30,0,0,MV1 was travelling Eastbound on Charlesbank Rd when a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction had fish tailed around the bend of the road. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Shlager Towing. The driver of the vehicle did not want to seek medical attention. There appeared to be no damage to the median. Gas station for an accident that happened this morning at 02:35. The owner of the gas station Elias Ghazale showed me video that showed a white pick-up truck with a plow that pushed snow across Ramsdell St onto a customers car. When the truck pushed the first pass of snow, the security camera shows the entire vehicle move violently into the curb. It is unknown at this time if there is any damage to the customers vehicle. It is also unknown at this time who was operating the plow or the name of the company. Because of all the snow plowed up on the customers vehicle, the license plate and information on the vehicle is also unknown at this time. I traveled to Negoshians Towing and left a message asking the owner to call me at the station to follow up on this matter. On 12/18/20 I spoke with Elias Ghazale who gave me a Mass. Registration of 1WPG55 a 2009 Honda Odyssey grey van that is owned by a Sarkis E. Ghazale as the owner of the parked vehicle that was involved in this accident. I traveled to Ferguson Plumbing and spoke with the manager Eric Mackenzie who stated the landlord, Negoshians Towing deals with the snow removal for his property. I then traveled to Negoshians and spoke with the Owner Ted Negoshian. He stated his company is responsible for plowing the Ferguson lot. I showed him a security clip of the white truck plowing in the parked vehicle and Negoshian stated that he doesn't have any white trucks that plow for him only black ones. I then traveled to the City of Newton Highway Department and spoke with Superintendent Michael Arpino. I showed him the security video and he stated that the white truck in question was not a city owned or sub-contracted vehicle because the trucks would have a green flag on their mirrors or writing on the door. I also spoke with Newton Control Clerk Mark Parsons who viewed the City of newton GPS from the night of the storm and confirmed that no city vehicles or sub-contracted vehicles were on Ramsdell St between 2am and 3am. Unless new information on the identity of the white truck is learned, the vehicle in question (veh#2) will remain unknown. On 12/28/20 I spoke with Elias Ghazale's wife, Maria Vidalis wife who stated she was able to uncover the snowed in vehicle and found the following damage to Massachusetts Reg # 1WPG55: drivers door, front bumper, rear quarter panel scratches, drivers side fender and reports of leaking transmission fluid.. I then traveled to #964 Boylston St and viewed the vehicle myself and all confirmed the above damage except the transmission fluid.","[""Crash"", ""Night"", ""Snow""]",[],[],/static/reports/2000000746.pdf,/static/images/2000000746.png,"56 Ramsdell St, Newton, MA 02461, USA",42.3184836,-71.2108521,0,2021-01-12T09:11:46.336643 2000000760,2020-12-21T15:14,2020-12-21,15:14,13 FAXON ST,SOUTH 13 FAXON ST,,0,25,0,0,"Operator of MV1 stated while traveling south on Faxon Street and approaching his residence, 13 Faxon Street, he struck MV2 while pulling into his driveway.
