There was a witness that was in a vehicle, behind MV#2. That witness stated that MV#2 crossed over into the oncoming traffic lane, heading right towards MV#1. He stated that it appeared as if MV#2 did not realize that she was going into the wrong lane until the last second. The witness stated that he observed MV#2 attempt to make a last second correction to her vehicle before crashing into MV#1. Witness stated that MV#2 then rolled over onto its roof, before sliding a distance down the road, and then righting it self back up. Both vehicles were towed away by Todys. Operator and occupant of MV#1 signed a patient refusal. Operator of MV#2 was transported to Brigham and Womens hospital. Witness stated MV1 was operating southbound on Glen Ave (public way) prior to 36 Glen Ave at approximately 40mph. Be advised the speed limit of Glen Ave is 25mph. Witness said MV1 crossed into the northbound lane, and operated through the driveway entrance and into the stone wall belonging to Glen Ave Association. Witness stated there were no other MVs on the road at this time and they were unsure if MV1 operator was on their cellphone while driving. Witness stated MV1 operator crawled out from the vehicle and there were no one else involved or in the car. MV1 sustained heavy and extensive front end damage, and was towed by Todys. MV1 operator stated they only had chest pains, and was not suffering from any head or neck injury at this time. Due to the nature of the incident and quick response by Newton Medics, I was unable to speak to MV1 operator, who was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Heinrich reported no injuries and no damage to his vehicle. I then was able to speak to the pedestrian involved who was identified as Emily Singley. Singley stated she was walking eastbound on Hammond St just past Priscilla Rd and saw vehicle 1 stopped at the stop sign so she believed it was safe to cross. As she was crossing she noticed vehicle 1 come at her and had no time to react. She was struck by vehicle 1 and knocked backwards onto the pavement. Singley had scratches to her left arm/elbow and believed she bumped her head but signed a patient refusal with the medics. Where Singley crossed there was no crosswalk but there was a curb cut in the sidewalk for pedestrians. Singley was about half way across the road when she was struck. Based on the statements given by the involved parties I issued Heinrich MA Uniform Citation #T1448567 in hand for 90/18A Failure to yield for a pedestrian.
