I spoke with the property owner , Ali Shamser who stated at approx midnight he heard a loud bang, and looked out his window , saw nothing in the road but did not think to look down into his side yard. Ali's home is across the street from Newton Wellesley Hospital and next to Route 128 as well as on a very busy road so he is used to hearing crashes and sirens regularly. Ali stated at approx 0745Hrs when he left his home to take his children to school he noticed his damaged fence and yard. Upon arrival I observed a large city tree on top of a box truck owned by 1-800-got junk completely blocking Greenwood Street. Newton Forestry responded to the scene and removed the tree from the vehicle and from the Road. Prior to the tree being cleared I spoke with the operator of the truck, SWEET Massimo, who states he was travelling Southbound on Greenwood Street toward Dedham Street when he attempted to pull to the side of the road. Prior to making it to the side of the road the top of the truck struck the city tree that was leaning over the roadway.tearing it from its roots and landing on top of the truck. My observations indicate that the tree would have been leaning over the roadway as SWEET's tires were still in the roadway when the tree was struck. SWEET states the vehicle has a dash camera that records and cold be accessed at a later date by the owner of the company. At the time of the accident the weather was sunny and the road conditions were dry. Greylock Road is owned and maintained by the City of Newton. Upon arrival I spoke with the operator of the garbage truck identified by RI License 9898223, as Norbin Cordon. Norbin stated he was operating the garbage truck and travelling westbound on Greylock Rd. Due to cars parked on both sides of the road he stopped to let another vehicle go by him coming from the opposite direction. The other vehicle stopped at the bend to let the garbage truck go by. Norbin stated it was a tight squeeze and when he tried to make his way through his rear drivers side tires made contact with the drivers side panel of the other vehicle. The only damage to the garbage truck was a smudge on the tire. Norbin reported no injuries. I then spoke with the operator of the other vehicle involved, identified by Mass Lic as Jane Lewis S79838916. Jane stated she was traveling eastbound on Greylock Road and stopped in the road to let the garbage truck pass. As the truck attempted to pass it struck her rear drivers side panel causing moderate body damage. Jane reported no injuries. Several photographs of both vehicles were taken and submitted to the IT Bureau.
