After stopping, #1 proceeded straight ahead into the intersection and collided with Mv#2 which was travelling straight ahead on Chestnut St. #1 driver's side front struck #2 passenger side front. No injuries. #1 appeared to sustain moderate damage and did not require towing. #2 stated he was travelling straight ahead on Chestnut St N/B (right of way). #2 stated he was travelling at a low speed. #2 stated when he arrived at the off ramp intersection, #1 drove out straight ahead from his right and crashed into his passenger side front. No injuries. #2 appeared to sustain moderate damage, was leaking fluids and required towing. Tody's towed #2 to their storage yard without incident. Witness was walking on the Chestnut St sidewalk. HE THEN PROCEEDED AROUND VEHICLE #1 THEN BACK INTO HER LANE BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO #249 CENTRE ST, NEWTON AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES WHICH IS JUST A SHORT DISTANCE AHEAD OF WHERE VEHICLE #1 WAS STOPPED. AS VEHICLE #2 DROVE AROUND VEHICLE #1 WHO WAS STILL STOPPED HE ENTERED BACK INTO HIS ORIGINAL LANE WHEN VEHICLE #1 SUDDENLY DROVE FORWARD HITTING HIS VEHICLE. The front left of vehicle 2 hit the front right of vehicle 1. I observed moderate damage to the point of impact on both vehicles. Both vehicles were towed by Tody's to their lot. Upon arrival, I observed two sedans in the middle of Commonwealth, facing opposite directions. I told both operators to pull to the side of the road. Operator of MV1 stated that he was traveling Southbound on Lowell Ave and took a left turn onto Commonwealth Ave going Eastbound. When he took the turn, he said he took it too sharp and got distracted with a lip balm in his car. He looked down because it fell on the side of the driver's side door. When he looked down he entered the Westbound lane of traffic and hit MV2. Operator of MV2 stated that she was traveling Westbound on Commonwealth Ave when she saw MV1 swerving into her lane. She attempted to avoid MV2 hitting her, but MV1 hit her head on. Both operators were offered and declined medical attention. Both vehicles were driven from scene. There are minor scratches on both cars that appear consistent with Operator #1 and the witness' statements.
