Upon arrival fire and medics were on scene treating the operator of motor vehicle #1 (EDMAN Brigitta). EDMAN's vehicle crashed into the front of Mr K's Liquor store smashing out the front window and doing minor damage to the inside of the store. Prior to striking the building she also slightly struck an Anton Cleaner's van doing very little to no damage to the van. EDMAN states she was attempting to park in the handicap parking spot in front of the store when she accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, which caused her vehicle to lunge forward and crash into the front of the building. EDMAN was not trapped in the vehicle but had difficulty exiting the vehicle so she was assisted by Newton Fire. EDMAN was also evaluated and transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital by Medi 4. While on scene Newton Inspectional Services was notified and responded to determine the structural integrity of the building. After looking inside the building Inspectional Services requested the vehicle be removed at which time Tody's was notified. Upon removal Inspectional Services also inspected the outside of the structure and determined the structural integrity of the building was not compromised and Mr. K's was able to stay open for business. Due to the nature of the crash I requested through the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle an immediate threat license suspension / revocation for EDMAN's drivers license. He then yelled at the driver and continued on running. Mr. Stern provided me with a registration number for the vehicle. I then spoke to the operator of Vehicle #1, Mr. Alan Epstein. Mr. Epstein stated that he remembers a runner yelling at him, but was unaware that they had any contact. MV 2 WAS DRIVING IN THE LANE NEXT TO HIM AND BEGAN MERGING INTO HIS LANE, STRIKING MV 1 ON THE FRONT RIGHT FRONT. MINOR DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE OPERATOR OF MV 1 GOT OUT OF HIS VEHICLE AND SPOKE TO THE OPERATOR OF MV2 WHO STATED THAT HE DIDN'T REALIZE HE HAD STRUCK MV1. MV1 ASKED HIM TO PULL OVER AND EXCHANGE INFORMATION BUT THE OPERATOR OF MV 2 ENDED UP DRIVING AWAY BEFORE THEY EXCHANGED. MV 1 STATED THAT THE OPERATOR OF MV 2 WAS ELDERLY AND DIDN'T SEEM TOO SURE ON WHAT TO DO. I ADVISED THE OPERATOR OF MV 1 THAT I WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH THE OTHER OPERATOR INVOLVED AND DOCUMENT THE ACCIDENT. ON 3/10/22 I SPOKE TO THE OPERATOR OF MV 2 IDENTIFIED AS FRANK AUSTEN WHO STATED TO ME THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE THAT HE WAS INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT YESTERDAY. HE STATED HE WAS IN THE CORRECT LANE IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC YESTERDAY ON BEACON ST DURING THE TIME IN QUESTION. HE ACKNOWLEDGES THE OPERATOR OF MV 1 GESTURING TO HIM ABOUT SOMETHING BUT STATED HE GOT OUT OF HIS VEHICLE AND CHECKED FOR DAMAGE. SINCE HE DIDN'T SEE ANY DAMAGE, HE DIDN'T THINK HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND LEFT TO GO HOME. Operator 1 asked operator 2 if he could back up to create space and when operator 2 reversed, the back passenger side of his vehicle scraped against the left side of vehicle 1's bumper. Operator 1 then asked operator 2 for his registration, operator 2 offered money and then left the parking lot without exchanging information. Upon making contact with operator 2, he stated he was the operator of vehicle 2 and admitted backing up into vehicle 1. Operator 2 stated he was scared to give his information because he does not have a driver's license and he left the area. I observed minor damage to on the left side of the rear bumper on vehicle 1 and minor damage to the right side of the rear bumper of vehicle 2.
