Vehicle #1 Was Traveling Southbound on Parker St. Vehicle #1 collided with a pedestrian on it's left drive side in a marked crosswalk in front of 21 Parker St. The operator of vehicle #1 stated she saw the pedestrian through her driver's side window at the same time she heard a loud bang. The operator of vehicle #1 stated she noticed her mirror was gone and realized she had hit something so she stopped. The pedestrian in the crosswalk was crossing from his residence at 21 Parker St. on the west side of Parker to the east side of Parker St. in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was approximately 2 feet from the middle divider when he was hit by the mirror of vehicle #1. It should be noted that the pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing. The Pedestrian appeared to suffer an injury to his arm and his body and was transported to Beth Israel by Cataldo. The Witness stated he did not see the crash, but just prior to it he saw an unknown vehicle driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Parker St. and the vehicle may have beeped at the pedestrian in the crosswalk causing him to step back into the southbound travel lane where the crash happened. Photographs were taken of the scene and submitted to the IT bureau to be attached to this report. The operator of Vehicle #1 was cited with MGL Ch. 89-11 fail to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk (Citation #T2079123).

MV1 stated he got off the Mass Pike Eastbound at exit 17, and once at the top of the ramp, his GPS directed him to take a left onto Washington St. While responding to a separate call, I witnessed MV1 traveling the wrong direction (NE) in the area of 320 Washington St. (one way section of rotary). I activated my blue lights and pulled up to MV1, telling the operator the street was a one way and he needed to turn around. The operator stated he had room to turn around, at which point I blocked Washington St. While turning around, the trailer of MV1 struck a City of Newton concrete light pole and knocked it down. The concrete pole was taped and coned off, and Daigle was notified to respond. Photos were taken and submitted to the IT bureau.

Operator of Vehicle #1 was traveling on Saw Mill Brook Parkway before turning right over a curb and onto Kappius Path. Kappius Path is a walking path not intended for vehicle traffic. While traveling on Kappius Path the operator struck a tree with the driver's side front of the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled onto the passenger side. In order to extract both occupants of the vehicle, Newton Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the roof of the vehicle. Firefighters also had to remove several sections of a chain link fence belonging to the property owner of 19 Kappius Path. Newton Medics obtained patient refusals from both occupants. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Todys and an inventory sheet was completed by Officer Emmanuel. Five photographs of the scene were submitted to the IT Bureau. The operator of Vehicle #1 was subsequently arrested and charged with OUI, Negligent Operation and Marked Lanes.

Operator of vehicle one Waste Management employee David Echeverria stated on 06/01/2020 at 12:11 hours he was driving MA com reg V36945 a 2009 Expedi trash truck south bound on Johnson Pl to pick up trash barbells. John Pl is a dead end public way in the city of Newton. Waste Management is contracted by the city of Newton to collect trash. Echeverria stated that since John Pl is a dead end it is common practice to back the truck in because making a three point turn at the end of the street would not be feasible. Echeverria stated that MA reg 3SH854 a 2012 Nissan was parked unoccupied facing north bound near 12 Johnson Pl. it should be noted that parking is only permitted on Johnson Pl by city of Newton issued permit only. Echeverria stated that while he backed his truck up the front passenger side bumper made contact with the Nissan's front driver's side quarter panel, front driver's side mirror and front driver's side tire. Owner of vehicle two Mandar Kasture stated he parked his vehicle on Johnson Pl without a parking permit. Since Kasture's vehicle was illegally parked , I issued him a verbal warring. I took photos of both vehicles and turned the disk over to the NPD's IT bureau for downing loading.

Vehicle 1 was parked in a proper parking spot on the right side of 1280 Centre St. Witness 1 stated that she saw vehicle 2 traveling westbound around the corner of 1280 Centre St building. (should be noted that Vehicle 2 was driving the wrong way down a one way road) Witness 1 stated vehicle 2 then attempted to make a U-Turn (3 point turn) to properly turn around and drive the correct way. Witness 1 stated she saw vehicle 2's front bumper make contact with vehicle 1's rear bumper approximately 4 times to the point of vehicle 1 being pushed forward twice. Witness 1 then took out her cell phone and took 2 pictures of Vehicle 2 leaving the scene without leaving proper information. Witness 1 left a note on vehicle 1 car with proper information of vehicle 2. Dispatcher Capoli contacted the owner of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 owner denied he was in a motor vehicle accident. Needham Officer went to Vehicle 2 residence to check damage on vehicle. Vehicle 2 owner would not allow Needham Officer into his garage to inspect damage.

On 10/21/21 at 15:24 hours, I (Traffic Unit 523) responded to 1479 Washington Street for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The weather at the time was seventy three degrees with mostly cloudy skies and some sun(weather.com). The road conditions were dry and Washington Street is a public way maintained by the City of Newton. Washington Street is a two way divided roadway with an unprotected median that runs in a easterly and westerly direction. At this location, there is a marked crosswalk with a walk signal along with traffic signals above in both directions. On arrival, the scene was cleared up and both parties were waiting in the parking lot of the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home at 1479 Washington Street. I spoke to the bicyclist involved who was identified as Rajmattie Thakoordeen. I asked her what occurred and she stated that she was attempting to cross Washington Street in a southerly direction on her electric bicycle. She says that she pushed for the crosswalk signal to activate and once it did she began riding her bicycle when she was suddenly struck by a silver Saab 93. She made it out in to the crosswalk approximately four feet when she was struck by the Saab which was travelling westbound in the right lane of Washington Street. She says that she was struck on the left side of her leg area. She complained of her left leg being sore near her knee area but signed a patient refusal with Fallon Ambulance declining transport. At the time, she was riding a Rad Power Bike Roadrunner 1 Plus that is silver and black in color. It is a Class 2 electric bicycle (750W) that can go up to 20 m.p.h. The only damage it sustained was scrapes to the outside left pedal. Ms. Thakoordeen was wearing black/gray/white pants, yellow reflective jacket, and a black bicycle helmet at the time. Next, I spoke to the operator of the Saab 93 bearing RI registration # FN193. He was identified as Nevan Hanumara with Rhode Island Driver's License # 9960501. He stated that he was travelling westbound on Washington Street in the right travel lane when he came around the curve and noticed the red light signal above in the last second. He says by the time he reacted and attempted to stop he went through the red light and made contact with the bicyclist in the crosswalk. He reported no injuries and no damage to his vehicle. Due to his statement and inattention to the traffic signal, I issued him MA Uniform Citation # 168985AB for Chapter 89/9 Fail to Stop/Yield for the red traffic signal.
