Narrative:
On Tuesday August 25th, 2020 at approximately 0938 while in N526 I responded to Gordon Rd and Paulson Rd for a City of Newton vehicle that took down Verizon wires. Gordon Rd and Paulson Rd are both owned and maintained by the City of Newton. At the time of the accident the weather was clear and.. sunny and the road surface was dry. On scene was Officer Gabriel who reported that the operator of the 2018 Case Backhoe Tractor identified as Greg Wansiewicz (S81742023) stated that he was traveling on Gordon Rd and turned left onto Paulson Rd when the top of the Backhoe took down low hanging wires. The operator stated the wires were too low and the bucket on the machine was down at the time. The operator reported no injuries and there was no damage to the city vehicle. Pictures of the scene were taken and submitted to the IT Bureau. Verizon was notified and were on scene as well as several DPW vehicles. DPW set up barricades to block off the area until Verizon arrived. The wires that were damaged were from Verizon pole 910/8 to Verizon pole 1002/2.
