Narrative:
The operator of MV#1 stated that she was backing out of a parking spot in the Star Market Parking lot, #2040 Commonwealth Ave when she was involved in a MV crash. Operator #1 stated that she and the other operator both exited their MV's and even though there was obvious damage to MV#1, the operator of MV#2 refused to provide any information, got back into his MV and left the area. Operator #1 describes MV#2 as a large yellow backhoe that did not display a MV plate and she didn't observe a company name anywhere on the MV. The operator id described as W/M, approx. 40 YOA with brown hair. There is a backhoe type MV presently in the Star Market parking lot and operator #1 stated that is not the other MV involved. I also spoke with a Star Market manager who will view their exterior video footage of the parking area and notify me if it provides any information.

Narrative:
MV1 was backing out of her parking spot in the parking lot at 916 Walnut St when she stopped to allow a pedestrian to cross in front of her vehicle. While she was waiting for the pedestrian to cross safely a vehicle backing out of the parking space across from hers backed into her vehicle and left the scene. Operator 1 was able to obtain a photo of the license plate. I then was able to contact operator 2 on the phone who stated she was at 916 Walnut St and "tapped" a vehicle when leaving and then left the scene. No injuries and both vehicle driven from the scene. MV1 sustained minor damage to the passenger side. Operator 2 states there is no damage to MV2. Operator 2 issued and mailed MA Uniform Citation T1442192 for leaving the scene property damage.

Narrative:
The owner of MV1 stated that he was working inside Mr. K's Discount Wine and Spirits when a witness came into the store and asked if he owned a white Toyota Camry parked outside and then explained that another car had backed into it and then left the scene. When he came out he observed a large dent in the passengers side rear bumper that was not there before. Officer Selig tracked down the owner of MA Registration 3EF576 at 20 Hale Street and the operator of MV2 admitted to being in the parking lot but denied striking MV1. It should be noted that while at Mr. Wendt's residence both Officer Selig and I observed MA reg 3EF576 parked in driveway of 20 Hale Street with damage to the left rear bumper consistent with how the witnesses stated MV2 struck MV1. Based on the 2 witness statements that express that the operator of the Nissan Pickup knew he struck another vehicle and still left the scene I issued the operator of MV2, Mr. Spencer Wendt, Massachusetts Uniform Citation T1443928, a criminal application to appear in Newton District Court for 90-24 Leaving the Scene of Property Damage. A copy of this report as a well as the criminal application were placed in the court prosecutors mailbox.

Narrative:
On 4/16/19 I was sent to 25 Chestnut St the Newton Police Annex for a past motor vehicle hit and run. On arrival I was met by LAU, Justin who stated that upon leaving work around 1530 hrs, he observed a fresh scratch to his personal vehicle. The vehicle, MA 9XS415, was parked backed into the marked parking spot against the exterior wall of 25 Chestnut St and closest to the handicapped ramp. This will now be referred to as vehicle #1. The scratch is on the passenger side doors. 25 Chestnut St is equipped with an exterior surveillance system which caught this incident on camera. At 1210 hrs it shows an older white male in a blue/green pickup make contact with vehicle #1 two times as he was attempting to park. The vehicle drove into the parking spot, hitting the passenger corner of vehicle #1's front bumper, then the passenger door, before coming to a stop. The male that exited the pickup had a distinct grey beard and hair. A still frame of the male was shown to employees inside of 25 Chestnut St who immediately recognized and were able to identify him based off of a check he had dropped off earlier. The party is identified as MASTROPIERI, Rocco DOB 2/16/40. I spoke with MASTROPIERI via phone and explained why I was calling. He informed me that he was at the Annex dropping off a check for the NPMA and did not realize that he made contact with vehicle #1 when parking. MASTROPIERI apologized and stated that he would have reported the incident, had he known. MASTROPIERI responded to headquarters where he was issued a written warning in hand for C.O. 19-75 Failure to Use Care in Turning. The Police Annex is a building/lot with public access in the City of Newton.

The owner of MV#1 states that he returned to his unoccupied MV to find a note from a witness stating they observed another MV strike his MV while they were attempting to park in the parking spot to the left of MV#1. Witness identified MV#2 as Ma Reg 1705XY, a Honda CRV. Witness states he observed an older W/M operating Ma. Reg. 1705XY (MV#2) attempt to park in a parking spot while striking MV#1 and then quickly exit the spot. Witness feels confident operator of MV#2 knew he struck MV#1. I then spoke with operator/owner of MV#2 who admitted he was operating MV#2 during minor crash, but didn't think it was significant so he left the area. Operator #2 cited for leaving the scene of a MV crash.

On 05/10/19 I met with Luiz A. Lopes who stated his vehicle ( Mass Commercial Reg# T83695 White Toyota Tacoma P/ U) was struck while parked in the lot around 07:00. Lopes said he didn't call the Police right away because he wasn't sure his car was struck there. The truck sustained a cracked front bumper and the fog light was popped out. We went inside of National Lumber and spoke with a manager who said he would contact G.M. Greg Assarian and have him look at the security footage. On 05/14/19 at approximately 14:00 the Police Station received a call from Lopes who just got off the phone with Assarian who found some security footage of the incident. I then traveled over to National Lumber and met with Assarian. He showed me the video and it appears that a newer grey four door Chevrolet truck backed into Lopes truck around 06:58 of 05/07/19. The Massachusetts plate is unreadable but an older White heavy set male gets out of the truck and walks into the store. After parking the truck the male can be seen checking his own truck bumper for damage. The male is wearing a baseball hat and sun glasses and cannot be identified on the video. The male does however walk with a noticeable limp. Assarian will show his picture to his employees and contact me if the employees are able to identify the male driver. I called Lopes back and apprised him of my findings. ******************UPDATE**************************************** As of today 05/20/19 I have yet to hear back from anyone at National Lumber so I will end this investigation and label it a hit and run crash.

Upon arrival I spoke with Ethan Smelson who stated he parked MV#1 in the parking lot and then left in another friends vehicle. When he returned to the McDonalds he noticed there was minor damage to the front driver side bumper to MV#1. There was no one inside of MV#1 at the time of the accident and there was no other information on the vehicle that might have hit MV#1. The employees inside stated there might be cameras facing that direction but they couldn't access them.

The operator of MV#1, identified as Frank Vanmierlo states that he parked his MV in the Marriott parking area at approx. 7:45AM on 12/9/19. When he returned to his unoccupied MV he found MV#2 making contact with the rear of his MV and his MV was now moved slightly from its original parking spot. MV#2 was unoccupied when Mr. Vanmierlo returned to his MV and we could not locate the registered owner on the Marriott property. I then spoke with the operator of MV#2 by telephone, identified as Jonathan Lang. Mr. Lang stated that he parked MV#2 in the Marriott parking area at approx. 7:45AM and was not involved in a crash with any other MV while in the parking area. Mr. Lang states that there was another MV parked and unoccupied in the parking space in front of him when he turned left into his parking spot. Marriott security states that there are no cameras video taping the exterior of the Marriott including the parking area. Interior videotape provided by the Marriott confirms that Mr. Lang entered the front lobby before Mr. Vanmierlo. Upon further investigation it was determined that an unknown person had informed Mr. Vanmierlo that a Red Acura had struck his MV while parked in the parking area. Mr. Vanmierlo also confirmed that there was new damage to the front of his MV. No other information available at this time. It would appear at this time that unknown MV#3 backed into the front of MV#1, pushing MV#1 into the front of MV#2.

The owner of MV1 states that he arrived to Dunn Gaherins restaurant (344 Elliot Street) at approximately 1915 hours for dinner with his son and backed into and parked his car in the second space in the parking lot. When he returned to his car at approximately 2130 hours the front bumper had been completely ripped off and sustained minor scratches to the passengers side. There was a camera possibly facing the general vicinity of the parked vehicle but the evening manager, Dan Thomas, (6175276271) stated that he has no access to the cameras and requested that Newton Police follow up during the day shift to speak with day manager. MV1 sustained moderate damage but was driven from the scene. No one sustained any injuries as the vehicle was unoccupied. Traffic Bureau update (Officer Gaudet):I made contact with the manager at Dunn Gaherin's who stated she reviewed her surveillance system and was unable to retrieve video from when the crash occurred.

Reportedly STB June 25 at 1500hrs and June 26 at 0700hrs, an unknown Toyota MV struck a large wooden fence structure and struck a large back up generator behind that fence and left the scene at the Adelaide of Newton Centre grounds at 157 Herrick Rd. A broken Toyota "Koito" taillight or headlamp case (part #SAE AIPP2 97 DOT 60-64) was found in front of the damaged area. Appears unknown MV was parked in an angle marked space in front of generator and either backed up into it or collided head on into it. Damage appears extensive with possible underground conduit damage connected to the generator power source. Eversource notified. No outdoor video. Adelaide staff will update NPD if they become aware of any MV involved. Canvass of the grounds was negative results.

According to the uninvolved owner, MV#1 was parked and unoccupied in space #61 in the parking lot at #155 Lexington St overnight when it was struck by another unknown MV. Owner Jean Nutile states she parked her MV in spot #61 at approx. 7:40PM on 12/22/20 and found her damaged MV this morning at approx. 10AM. Mrs. Nutile states that when she parked her MV last evening, a red pickup truck was parked in space #62, directly next to her. This morning the red PU truck was gone and a blue sedan was parked in the assigned spot. There was no obvious damage to the blue sedan or any of the other MV's in the vicinity of MV#1. I observed significant damage to the rear passengers side of MV#1, including what appears to be a broken rear axle. I did not observe any MV debris on the ground in the area of spot#61, even though the hubcap of the damaged rear tire appeared to be missing a significant portion. Mrs. Nutile stated that she is the only person who operates her MV. Request the Traffic Bureau follow up with the resident assigned to spot #62.

Narrative:
On Monday 2/22/2021 at approx 0849hrs, while assigned to N491, I responded to 33 Austin St in Newton for a MVA hit and run. There I was met by the owner of MV1 who states that his car was parked in the Austin St lot while getting coffee at Starbucks. He states that a witness to the accident gave him their information. Witness statement: Schreiner states that she had just left Starbucks and heard a crash. When she looked into the Austin St parking lot she could see MV2 make contact with MV1. She said that MV2 then scrapped the side of MV1 with the front passenger side of the vehicle. When MV2 left the parking lot she said that she was able to read the MA plate of 1NTE29. Schreiner said that MV2 was white and looked like a Toyota Highlander operated by a white female w/ blonde hair in her 40's. It is unclear at this time who was operating MV2(MA# 1NTE29). Dracut PD was contacted about the registered owner and I was able to get a phone number. However, the number was to a business she hasn't worked at in five years. Traffic Bureau update (Officer Gaudet): On Monday, February 22, 2021 I was able to make contact with the registered owner of MV2, Ms. Melinda Russo (S29162725). Ms. Russo stated that she was operating her white 2019 Toyota Highlander (MA: 1NTE29) in the Austin Street municipal parking lot this morning. Ms. Russo stated she was backing out of a parking spot when she observed her passenger side mirror collapse in. Ms. Russo stated after she exited the parking spot she pulled her vehicle over and observed no damage to the passenger door mirror area. Ms. Russo stated she fixed her mirror and then left the area. Ms. Russo stated she did not think there would be damage to any other vehicle because she did not have damage on her vehicle. Ms. Russo was advised that if she believes she was involved in a crash, she should make every effort to contact the owner of the other vehicle. Ms. Russo was also advised she can contact the police department for assistance. Ms. Russo will be mailled Massachusetts Uniform Citation T1446762 for Newton City Ordinance Chapter 19, Section 75 (Fail to Use Care). Austin Street is a public way maintained by the City of Newton.

OwMv#2 stated she parked Mv#2 in the first stall by the right side loading dock facing the building approximately 0350. She stated Newton Fire Department responded to the area (CAD 21012488) and they were the only vehicle to come in or out of the parking lot this morning. - I conducted and inspection of MV#2 in the Cherry Street Parking lot since Mv#2 was still serviceable. I observed damage to the rear left side bumper, a cut in the bumper plastic revealing the metal bumper frame underneath it and black friction mark on the surface of the bumper. -There were no injuries or other property damage reported at the time of this interview. This report will be forwarded to the Traffic Bureau for investigation. Traffic Bureau Update (Officer Gaudet): On Monday, March 22, 2021, I contacted Ms. Linda Nieman (Director of MGPO Dermatopathology Associates) inquiring about surveillance cameras on the property located at 2 Wells Avenue, Newton. Ms. Nieman stated she was unaware if the property had cameras but has sent and request to the building managers. I contacted the building manager Ms. Madison Hebb. Ms. Hebb stated she is not sure if the area of the building where the alleged crash took place has cameras, but she is looking into it and will contact me when she finds out. I contacted the Newton Fire Department to try and speak with Lt. Foli who was the incident commander for the call at 2 Wells Avenue (CAD 21012488). Lt. Foli is not back to duty until this Friday. I will attempt to make contact with him during his tour of duty at Station 10 at this time. If it is determined that a Newton Fire vehicle made contact with MV1, I will update this crash report. I spoke with Ms. Danielle Subramaniam, the owner of the damaged vehicle (MV1). Ms. Subramaniam stated she did not observe a Newton Fire vehicle hit her vehicle while they responded to 2 Wells Avenue the morning her vehicle was damage. Ms. Subramaniam stated she believes the only vehicles that were in the parking lot near her vehicle during her shift were Newton Fire vehicles. Ms. Subramaniam stated when she left work after her shift that morning, she observed new damage to her vehicle. On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Miss Hebb updated me that the side of the property where the alleged incident took place does not have any surveillance cameras present. At this time, I am unable to conclude that a Newton Fire Department vehicle caused the damage to Ms. Subramaniam's vehicle.

A "Hit and Run" inquiry was mailed to Mr. Nolan. On Friday, April 30, 2021, I spoke with Mr. Nolan via telephone. Mr. Nolan stated that he was at Newton Wellesley Hospital on the day of the crash, but does not believe he was involved in a crash. I asked him to check his vehicle to see if there was any fresh damage. Mr. Nolan stated there was no damage to his vehicle. On 07/16/2021 while assigned to marked cruiser #493 at 17:47, Ofc. Hamann and I, Ofc. Vazhenin, responded to Trader Joe's parking lot located at 1121 Washington St, Newton. Upon arrival on scene, we met with Reporting Party, later identified as Ms. Lena Kay Zuckerwise. Ms. Zuckerwise stated that she was sitting in her red Toyota Prius V, parked on parking lot at Trader Joe's, when she felt a thump from a car that was pulling out parking spot on the right. Ms. Zuckerwise stated that she immediately stepped out of the vehicle to see what happened and observed a white car with reg MA plate "2TS578" leaving the parking lot. Ms. Zuckerwise also stated that there were 2 males in the car, one was elderly person and the other was in his 50-60's. She also mentioned that the other car had a handicap placard and probably some damage at the right front corner. Ms. Zuckerwise's car had a dent in right rear corner as a result of collision with the car that left the scene. We ran that license plate that came up as a brown 2006 Honda Accord registered to Mr. Michael Cohen. We then drove to his address and could not locate Mr. Cohen or his vehicle. Due to discrepancy in color given by Ms. Zuckerwise and the actual color of the car with license plate she reported, we could not verify if that vehicle was involved.

On 06/06/22 at 15:12 hours, I was at the Cabot School on Bridges Avenue doing a school crossing guard post when I was flagged down by a witness about a hit and run motor vehicle crash that occurred a few minutes prior. The crash took place in the school driveway/parking lot that runs between Bridges Avenue and Norwood Avenue. The driveway/parking lot is a one way roadway that enters through Bridges Avenue and exits out to Norwood Avenue. It allows staff to park their vehicles there and it is used for school pickup and drop off. The witness identified as Michelle Reddick stated that she was in her vehicle in the school pickup line to the above mentioned driveway of the school. Ms. Reddick observed a black colored Mercedes GLE450 bearing MA reg.# 2AWR85 come in through the one way driveway going the wrong way. The Mercedes then attempted to back up in to a parking spot reportedly three times with two other vehicles parked on each side. While doing so, the operator struck the rear end of M/V # 2. The operator of M/V # 1 was described as an Asian female. Ms. Reddick stated that other parents saw the accident but nothing was said to the operator. Reddick beeped her horn at the operator to get her attention but the Mercedes pulled away and left the scene without leaving their information. Reddick took a picture of the vehicle (Mercedes GLE450) and registration (MA 2AWR85) and showed it to me. M/V # 2 was a 2020 Nissan Rogue color gray bearing MA reg. # 598VN7. The owner, Elizabeth McFadyen, was made aware of the crash and provided the owner's information from the Mercedes. The vehicle sustained minor scratches to the left side of the rear bumper. The left side rear quarter panel/bumper area was no longer mounted flush with the rest of the body also. The owner of the Mercedes is an Asian female listed as Qiong Yang out of 480 Main Street Apt. # 113 Malden, MA. I was not able to locate a phone number for her and Malden Police Department had no contact info either. A department letterhead was sent to the address requesting the owner to contact me regarding the crash.
