Narrative:
On Friday 11/19/21 at approximately 0938 hours while assigned to marked unit n497 I was dispatched to the area of 1256 Commonwealth Ave for a report of a past Hit and Run. Upon arrival in front of 1256 and 1270 Commonwealth Ave across the street on the Westbound side I observed a concrete light post broken at the base and laying in the Grass median between Commonwealth Ave and the Carriage Rd. The light pole had an electric wire attached to it that connected at utility pole 102/180. On the grassy area was several pieces of debris from the vehicle causing the damage, including what appeared to be an empty steel liquid storage container, possibly gas. there was no evidence of any sort of spill so the container may have been empty upon impact. After canvassing the area for evidence related to the vehicle involved I spoke with the resident at 1270 Commonwealth Ave, BLAKELY Thomas. Thomas states he heard a loud crash at approximately 0300am, but wasn't sure what it was. I noticed cameras on his home and asked if we could view the video. Video showed the vehicle impacting the pole and spinning out and then continuing Westbound on Commonwealth Ave Thomas emailed the video to me and Ofc Drew Vello. After returning to Newton Police Headquarters Ofc. Vello and I viewed the video and at 0300 hours a Tow Truck is seen veering off the road travelling Westbound on Commonwealth Ave and striking the light pole. Tow Truck spins sideways in the grass, and then continues Westbound on Commonwealth Ave. As the truck gets back on Commonwealth Ave there is lettering visible on the drivers side door, but Ofc Vello and I were unable to make out what the lettering says. I also took 7 photos of the area of the crash and emailed them to Officer Vello to attach to this report. Eversource and the City were notified to attend to the light pole, wires and debris.

Narrative:
On Friday 11/19/2021 at approx 1155hrs, while assigned to N-498, I responded to the intersection of Wells Ave and Nahanton St for a 2 MV accident. Upon arrival, both vehicles involved were pulled over in the right turn lane facing EB on Nahanton St just before the traffic lights. I observed minor damage to the rear driver side of MV1 and front passenger side damage to MV2's bumper. It should be noted that MV2's front bumper appeared to have been pulled forward. Operator of MV1 states that MV2 was behind him prior to the accident. He said that his vehicle was struck by MV2 as he was merging into the right turn lane. MV1 said that he observed the operator of MV2 touching MV2's front bumper prior to my arrival. Operator of MV2 states that he was in the left lane and in front of MV1 prior to the accident. He said that before Nahanton St briefly merged into one lane, MV1 came from his right side and cut in front of him. Operator of MV2 believes that is when contact was made. Operator of MV2 states that he intended to stay in his lane and go straight through the intersection as his destination was in Brookline and had no deliveries on Wells Ave. No parties reported injuries.

Narrative:
On November 21st, 2021 at approximately 07:56 hours while working N491 I along with Officer Mike Boudreau responded with NFD and Medic One to a report of a MV crash with injuries in the area of Centre St @ Franklin St. On my arrival the Medics were evaluating two adult males who standing outside one of the involved vehicle from this crash. There appeared to be several involved vehicles to this crash however two of them had been parked prior to the crash. The vehicle which the two unidentified males were standing by was MA reg. 9HY939, a 1988 Black Ford F150 PU, listed registered owner was a Peter J. Jara-Castro, #28 Ridge Ave, Lynn Ma. Mr Castro was one of the two males standing by that truck. The above vehicle appeared to have been travelling N/B on Centre St when it skidded off the road, jumping the curb striking a 1 foot slate retaining wall to the property to #573 Centre St. It continued onto that property driving over shrubs, small trees, then onto the driveway(same address) which is actually on Newtonville Ave, hitting the homeowners 2007 Nissan Versa, Ma reg. 6BH269, forcing it into more shrubbery. The Truck continued across Newtonville Ave where it struck another parked vehicle, a Grey 2019 Volkswagon, Ma reg. 1NFC27 on the rear passenger side pushing it forward. The truck finally came to a stop after driving into a wooden fence to the property of #559 Centre St.(Fence is on Newtonville Ave.) I spoke with the owner of the truck after he was evaluated by the Medics, who spoke limited English. The owner of the truck Peter Jara-Castro finally said he was driving the truck prior to the crash. His statement was he was travelling N/B down Centre St when another vehicle came out from Newtonville Ave causing him to slam on his brakes. Mr Castro doesn't remember much after that, possibly from hitting his head. At this time I couldn't determine who the actual driver was. Both Mr Castro and the passenger, sustained injuries but both declined to go to the hospital. Both were later picked up by an UBER driver. A Firefighter heading to work reported seeing the truck pass him on Centre St N/B at high rate of speed but never saw the driver or the actual crash. Both property owners that sustained damage were given Trucks insurance info. Pictures were taken by both property owners. Vehicle #1 and vehicle #2 were towed from scene. Both sustained heavy damage. Vehicle #3 sustained minor damage I was unable to make contact with that owner at this time. However later in the day I was able to make contact with owner of vehicle #3. She was given all vehicle #1 information along with his insurance. A citation for speeding was later issued after investigation was completed and witness statement. Citation#t1444076 was later sent VIA mail.

Ms. Flannery stated she dropped the students off at the Newton Early Education Center on Jackson Road. I asked Ms. Flannery why she did not contact the Newton Police Department to report the crash and help her exchange information with the parked vehicle she hit. Ms. Flannery stated she did not know she had to because the vehicle was unoccupied. Ms. Flannery was advised that she needs to report being involved in a collision, especially when transporting children for JSC Transportation. Ms. Flannery will be cited with Massachusetts Uniform Citation 203510AB for Newton City Ordinance Chapter 19, Section 75 (Fail To Use Care). Mr. Dumoulin stated he was wearing his department issued yellow reflective jacket and his department issued yellow hi-vis gloves. Mr. Dumoulin stated he also had his department issued stop sign with him while performing his duties. Mr. Dumoulin stated at some point during his post (0745-0830 hours), he was attempting to cross two children on Ward Street (S to N). Mr. Dumoulin stated he entered the crosswalk of Ward Street on the NE corner of Ward Street at Waverly Avenue. Mr. Dumoulin stated the pedestrian signal was activated at this time and the intersection traffic signals were all red. Mr. Dumoulin stated while entering the crosswalk, he observed a black Honda sedan traveling on Stuart Road (E) towards the intersection of Ward Street and Waverly Avenue. Mr. Dumoulin stated the license plate had 3 characters on it and believes the first letter may have been "E". Mr. Dumoulin stated the operator was a heavy set female with blonde hair in her 30's or 40's. Mr. Dumoulin stated the operator appeared to speed up towards his location to beat the light turning red. Mr. Dumoulin stated the vehicle then continued through the intersection onto Hammond Street (E), but it did not keep right with the normal flow of traffic and entered the Westbound lane of Hammond Street. Mr. Dumoulin stated he attempted to get the operators attention to stop her from continuing in the wrong lane of Hammond Street. Mr. Dumoulin stated at this time, the vehicle made contact with his left knee area and continued traveling down Hammond Street with out stopping. Mr. Dumoulin stated the children he was crossing were not near the vehicle and they did not see the contact. I asked Mr. Dumoulin if there were any other witnesses in the area. Mr. Dumoulin stated he does not believe there were. Mr. Dumoulin reported this collision to the Newton Police Traffic Bureau at approximately 1030 hours. I asked Mr. Dumoulin why he did not contact us when the incident first took place. Mr. Dumoulin stated he thought his injury was superficial and that he knew we were busy. At this time, Mr. Dumoulin is reporting a left knee injury as a result of the crash. Mr. Dumoulin stated vehicles travel on the wrong side of the medium on Hammond Street all the time and estimates it happens 3 times every school post. Mr. Dumoulin also stated the keep right sign on Hammond Street near the crash site needs to be addressed because some of the letters are peeling. I canvassed the area where the crash occurred for the fleeing vehicle with a negative result. I also covered the afternoon school post (1450-1535 hours) to ask passing students if they witnessed the crash with a negative result. I observed the "Keep Right" sign Mr. Dumoulin made mention of at this location. The sign appears to be in working condition and visible from Stuart Road. I took photos of the intersection where the crash happened and submitted them to the IT Bureau. On November 24, 2021, I covered Mr. Duboulin's school crossing post again for the morning post. While canvassing the area I observed a dark colored Mercedez sedan with a 3 character registration parked on Exmoor Street that resembled the vehicle Mr. Duboulin described as the fleeing vehicle. I attempted to contact the registered owner of this vehicle, Ms. Judtich Zukor. Ms. Zukor stated she could not speak at this moment and asked me to call her back. I will follow up with Ms. Zukor.
