Operator of vehicle one stated that while driving westbound on Adella Ave the rear driver's side of his vehicle struck the front driver's side mirror of vehicle two. There was no damage to either vehicle. Vehicle two was parked unoccupied in front of 30 Adella Ave at an angle.There was another unoccupied vehicle parked across from 30 Adella Ave further constricting the roadway. Both occupants of vehicle one stated that they were not injured. Photos of both vehicles were taken and the disk was downloaded by the N PD's IT bureau. Adella Ave is a pubilc way in the City of Newton.

On 1/18/19 at approximately 1200hrs, a party who wished to remain anonymous reported observing a tractor trailer travelling on Washington St W/B at #1479 where the street curves to the right struck a traffic light pole in front of Burke & Blackington Funeral Home. The side of the trailer struck the pole. It was reported the operator, a non descript black male, stopped after the collision, picked up the downed pole and moved it onto the sidewalk. Markings observed on the trailer were "Powered Transportation" out of Laurel, Mississippi. Unknown plates. Operator left scene and as of this time, it hasn't been reported by the operator. Photos were taken of the downed pole and submitted to the IT bureau. Daigle Electric notified to respond. Google search of "Powered Transportation" was negative results.

MV1 was stopped at a red light north on Tremont St at Waverly Ave. MV2 was stopped behind MV1. MV2 reached for something and her foot slipped off the gas and she bumped the rear of MV1. All parties agreed that it was a tap from behind and that there was no damage to either MV. However, there were 2 special needs students on the van that go to NNHS. Vehicle 1 was traveling east on Washington Street. The operator of vehicle 1 states he felt the steering wheel pull hard to the right. The operator of vehicle 1 then pulled the steering wheel to the left in attempt to correct the pulling to the right. At this time the vehicle began to pull harder to the right and ended up striking the curb and a concrete light pole. The concrete pole is owned by the City of Newton, pictures taken and submitted to IT. MED2 responded and obtained a patient refusal. Eversource was notified and responded to disconnect the power. After the power was disconnected Todys was able to remove the vehicle. I was able to move the disconnected light pole and some debris to make the sidewalk passable. Eversource placed a cone over the disconnected wires and I was able to tape off the downed pole. Dispatch notified the city for the pole and to clean up the debris.

The OP of MV#1 states while travelling northbound on Moulton Street, he observed MV#2 sanding the intersection of Cornell Street so he stopped. MV#2 then started reversing in his direction and when MV#2 didn't stop, the OP. of MV#1 then honked his horn but they still collided. The OP. of MV#2 states he was sanding Cornell Street and was doing a U-turn at the intersection of Moulton Street. He didn't observe MV#1 being on Moulton Street at this time so continued sanding the area. When he reversed, that's when his rear tire collided with MV#1. Pictures were taken by me.

Operator of vehicle one, Keith DeVincent stated that on 04/09/2019 at approximately 10:00 hours he parked his vehicle ( MA reg 9WM464 2015 Nissan ) facing north on Colonial Ave across from number 28. DeVincent stated that he observed a white city of Newton pick up truck towing a trailer hit his vehicle's driver side mirror with the truck's passenger side mirror. DeVincent stated that the truck that struck his vehicle did not stop. Vehicle one driver's side mirror had minor damage. I was able to track down the city Parks and Recreation truck. Operator of vehicle two Ralph Annese stated that he was driving a city of Newton Parks and Recreation truck ( MA reg MVN M 95256 ) north on Colonial Ave on 04/09/2009 at approximately 10:00 hours . Annese stated that he did not realize that his vehicle struck DeVincent's vehicle . Vehicle two had no damage. I took photos of both vehicles and forwarded the disk to the NPD's IT bureau.

Vehicle one was traveling westbound on Franklin street and taking a right hand turn to head north on Waverly Ave when the female operator overturned the wheel and struck pole number 21 on the corner of Nonantum St and Waverly ave. The male passenger then stated for the female party to leave the driver seat of the vehicle. The male party took possession of the vehicle and drove off. Witnesses stated that a female was driving and a male party then took over possession of the car and drove off. Witnesses then wrote down the license plate of the vehicle. Officer Anderson responded to the operators residence to check on well being and spoke to the male party. The male party stated he left the scene and stated that his daughter was learning to drive and she only has her learners permit when she overturned the wheel taking a right hand turn and struck the pole. Male party stated he didn't think there was damage to the pole so he left the scene, since the female party was shook up. Pictures were taken and submitted to IT.

On 05/02/19 while on patrol I observed a Traffic Light Post knocked over and resting against a damaged wooden fence. The pole appears to have been struck by a vehicle as there are tire marks leading up to the base. The pole is resting against a new six (6) foot tall unpainted wooden fence belonging to #127 Elliot St. There was no response at the residence so I left a note for the homeowner on the front door. Pictures were taken by Traffic Officer Wade and dispatch notified the light company- Daigle Light . I caution taped off the area and pole to make it safe for passers by. There is no information on the vehicle that struck the pole and a canvass of the area revealed no further leads.

Owner of V1 stated while shopping, Ruth (HomeGoods employee), called her plate number over the speakers in the store. Ruth told the Owner of V1 she just witnessed a MVA involving her car. Ruth took a photo of the involved vehicle and watched V2 leave. Owner of V1 came and explained what happened to me. Ruth sent the photo to the Owner of V1. V1 sustained damage on the left rear side of the vehicle. I spoke to Ruth, she stated she watched V2 drive in, attempt to turn left into a spot, hit the vehicle, and leave right away. Ruth stated she took a photo of V2's plate and then went to the store to call it over the speakers. Ruth stated at no time did V2 stop. Ruth spoke to the owner and explained what happened. During the investigation, I spoke to the Opr of V2. She stated she was in the parking lot, but does not remember hitting a vehicle. Opr of V2 gave me all necessary information and apologized. V2 has minor damage on the right front side consistent with the damage of V1. V2 will not be charged. No injuries.

Operator of vehicle one Waste Management employee David Echeverria stated on 06/01/2020 at 12:11 hours he was driving MA com reg V36945 a 2009 Expedi trash truck south bound on Johnson Pl to pick up trash barbells. John Pl is a dead end public way in the city of Newton. Waste Management is contracted by the city of Newton to collect trash. Echeverria stated that since John Pl is a dead end it is common practice to back the truck in because making a three point turn at the end of the street would not be feasible. Echeverria stated that MA reg 3SH854 a 2012 Nissan was parked unoccupied facing north bound near 12 Johnson Pl. it should be noted that parking is only permitted on Johnson Pl by city of Newton issued permit only. Echeverria stated that while he backed his truck up the front passenger side bumper made contact with the Nissan's front driver's side quarter panel, front driver's side mirror and front driver's side tire. Owner of vehicle two Mandar Kasture stated he parked his vehicle on Johnson Pl without a parking permit. Since Kasture's vehicle was illegally parked , I issued him a verbal warring. I took photos of both vehicles and turned the disk over to the NPD's IT bureau for downing loading.

On Thursday, June 11th 2020, at approximately 9pm, I, Officer Brooks, responded to 92 North street for a report of a car into a utility pole. Upon my arrival I observed MV1(MA REG 1HRN55) on the side of the road with heavy damage to the majority of the vehicle. I spoke with the operator who stated that he was traveling northbound on North street when his steering wheel stopped functioning as he approached a bend in the road. The operator stated he left the roadway striking a utility pole, and rolling his car at least 3 times. The operator was complaining of leg pain and dizziness and was transported to NWH by Cataldo for further evaluation. MV1 was towed by Tody's and an inventory form was filed. Eversource was notified for significant damage to the utility pole. Pictures were taken and submitted to the IT bureau.

On 08/12/20 at approximately 13:53 I responded to the intersection of Charlemont St and Roland St for a truck that had taken down some wires. Upon arrival I saw a Harvey Building truck in the middle of the intersection with power and cable lines resting on its cab. I spoke with the operator/employee Bernard McLain who stated he was traveling on Charlemont St and attempted to take a right in the middle of the road as to avoid the low hanging wires. As he took the right, McLain realized he had started to pull on the wires and immediately stopped. Verizon pole #602/10 along with its wires were pulled down and the pole is presently leaning. Verizon and Eversource were notified to respond. At approximately 15:30 a Newton Police Detail relieved me to take over the scene. Photos of the scene were taken and emailed to our I.T. Bureau for attachment to this report. There was no apparent damage to the truck.
